Chair Luke is the result of a collaboration between Stuhlfabrik Schnieder and VOSDING Industrial Design. Technical capabilities of the production facilities in Lüdinghausen have been considered as well as the lack of a lightweight, contemporary stacking chair in the portfolio of Schnieder. 
Bending wood is a fascinating production technology that is conducted by Schnieder since many decades. Complex parts can be made from one single piece of massive wood and leftovers are minimized. The requirements of stackability and the use of the bending technology, together with the ambition to use as little material and components as possible led to the goal to reinterpret classic chairs with bent frames. The result: a chair with a bent frame in the shape of a horseshoe. It is the centerpiece of Luke, connects all components and is neatlessly assembled with the seating surface. Conical legs and a generous backrest contribute to the characteristic appearance of the chair.
