“The Contrary Chair” – the chair of contrasts – was born from the desire to make a straight, square chair soft, rounded, inviting, and comfortable. The frame is composed entirely of right-angled, square oak beams, which in a way form a structure that supports the voluminous, gently curved cushions. The seat, backrest, and armrest cushions appear almost “inflated”, yet their outer contours consistently follow the rectangular shape of the frame.
Inside, the cushions nestle closely together, while on the outside – framed by the wood – they tilt slightly inward. This design gives the chair a surprisingly light and dynamic appearance despite its robust and sturdy construction.

In this piece, many contrasts come together: massive yet dynamic, hard yet soft, linear yet rounded, angular yet gentle – complemented by the combination of wool and oak as materials.
